February 21, 2020 – Payment of compensation to Igbe PAPs

NEWMAP commenced the payment of compensation to persons affected by the erosion control project in Igbe community, Auchi, Etsako West Local Government Area of Edo State.

During the event, the project coordinator, Edo State NEWMAP, Tom Obaseki expressed his gratitude to the community for allowing the use of its assets for community developmental interventions and mentioned that the event marks the final stage in the Ressettlement Action Plan implementation.

The executive governor of Edo State, Godwin Obaseki represented by the Executive Chairman of Etsako West Local Government Area who chaired the activity presented cheques to the beneficiaries.

In his remarks, he reaffirmed that the individuals compensated do not have the right to foment trouble and advised that the compensation sums should be used wisely for the intended purpose.

Finally, in line with the project guidelines, a total number of thirteen (13) Project Affected persons are being paid compensation in Auchi project site.
